A bit of background about me, I have been married to my husband since 2013, he served 8 years in the U.S Navy. We have a 5 year old son, Apollo and we also have two pet dogs (female boxer-lab mix and a male shepherd-pomeranian mix) and a pet snake (black racer). I run my own online personal training company, I teach at a local college and am certified SAT/ACT Instructor and this spring break I am hoping to become a certified white water rafting guide through the Nantahala Outdoor Center in North Carolina.

I am a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the National Council of Teachers of English, the College English Association, and the Cultural Studies Association. I have presented and been the chair speaker at the Cultural Studies Association Annual conference. I have volunteered at an exotic animal wildlife rescue specializing in sloths and reptiles, while also working with birds, gators, wolves, anteaters, monkeys, kinkajous, armadillos, turtles, skunks, foxes and coatimuni.

I currently possess a Master of Arts degree in English with an emphasis on Rhetoric and the Teaching of Writing from Northern Arizona University , a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Secondary Education with a minor in Gender Studies from Columbus State University and I am working on becoming special education certified.

I have taught at the university level since 2015, teaching mainly freshmen composition courses. I believe that with the correct tools and under the right guidance, everybody can succeed in their studies.

I use a variety of teaching methods in my class to make sure that everybody feels welcome, engaged and excited to learn. On top of that, I do my best to provide students with any help and support they need to get the best results. In my class, you will never be alone. I do however, hold my students to high standards and I expect that they ask questions when they are confused or struggling and that they complete their work in a timely manner.

Alarm Clock

Things to Remember

Students are expected to be on time and attend class regularly. Frequent unexcused absences or tardiness will result in a lower participation grade. This is for face-to-face classes as well as online. If students are not logging in on time and submitting assignments on time it will hurt their final grade. There are NO academic recovery packets for my class, complete your work on time, the first time.
